The Human Rights Initiatives Unit within the Human Rights Directorate convened the Anti-Human Trafficking Inter-Ministerial Committee for the first time on 18th October 2022.
The Inter-Ministerial Committee is composed of focal persons representing each Ministry and shall act as a mechanism for coordination, reporting and monitoring as per Malta’s obligations under Directive 2011/36/EU on preventing and combating trafficking in human beings and protecting its victims.
The Committee invited guest speakers from the National Statistics Office to discuss the importance of data gathering, and from the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) to discuss possible collaborative initiatives and training needs.
