The second volume of ‘Mapping the Rainbow – Researching the diverse colours of the LGBTIQ community’ is an HRD publication and the result of a project held in collaboration with the University of Malta’s Department of Gender and Sexualities, the Europe Direct Information Centre and the Malta LGBTIQ Rights Movement. This publication follows the first volume which was published in 2020.
Following the success of the first LGBTIQ Research Symposium in 2019, the Human Rights Directorate together with its partners agreed to host a second symposium, this time taking place virtually and reaching a wider local and international audience.
The Symposium was held on two evening, being the 21st and 22nd of April of 2021 with five different thematic areas: Gender Identity, Social Care and Public Policy, Education, Religion and the Lived Experience. Fifteen of the seventeen presentations are represented in this publication.
The publication was subsequently launched on the 5th of January of 2022 with the participation of Gabi Calleja, Head of the SOGIGESC Unit within the Human Rights Directorate; Dr Claire Azzopardi Lane, Deputy Dean of the Faculty for Social Wellbeing and one of the editors of the publication; Colette Farrugia Bennett, contributor to the publication and Hon Dr Owen Bonnici, Minister for Equality, Research and Innovation.
The soft version of the publication can be accessed for free here, while a hard copy can be picked up from the Human Rights Directorate’s offices in Paola, the Faculty for Social Wellbeing at the University of Malta and the MGRM in Mosta, while stocks last.
