Sex Work Support Programme – HRD-APPOGG
On 16 October 2020, the Human Rights Directorate has signed an agreement with Aġenzija Apoġġ for the design and provision of the Sex Workers Programme. The aim of this Programme is to gather information from sex workers themselves and others who work directly with them and provide support services, including psychosocial support and counselling, based on the findings of the data-gathering. The services will be available to current sex workers who would like to continue offering their services or those sex workers who wish to quit.
Under current laws, the act of buying sex and the act of selling sex is not criminalised. However, loitering and soliciting in public and living off earnings of prostitution is illegal.
