In 2020, the Human Rights Directorate was tasked with managing the reform on human trafficking and coordinating the stakeholders working in this field. This has been done through a multi-agency approach, ensuring that the implementation of Malta’s monitoring and reporting functions related to human trafficking are carried out through close collaboration with all the relevant stakeholders.
The 4 P’s of human trafficking are crucial for the safeguarding of human rights. Malta strives to ensure the effective coordination of the prevention of the crime of trafficking, the protection and promotion of human rights, the prosecution of perpetrators, and to further develop partnerships with parties who may be directly or indirectly responsible to combat this organised criminal activity.
